Colour Theory
Jelle Snijders, Pum van de Koppel
20 February – 1 March, 2026

Self-serious & non-pedagogical, tied in hope of stirring & striding the non-usual affiliates of painting, mounted with a buoyant force on the crisp chamber shores of the up-to-the minute Zorgraum. Bent in attitude of speaking for themselves in the proposed extensive ratio of yet another fractal stance tracery left to unravel in discourse of getting to know this duet. The invitation to peep behind the patch that comprises the abrasion of a joy & struggle amalgamation.

“Zelven” pluralities of Pum do not uptake the divines of higher “UP,” or aim to score from the pre-conceived bar. Much rather be in exploration of figuring the “Ground’s” metaphysical conundrums. Land of the ceaseless self-contained zipped-up, yet up-beat to dilation.

In terms of Plan B, Pum’s paintings may appear as the lands that Jelle’s paintings skipped out to voyage onto the new traversing domains, but that is not in the main tactics. In optics of enlarging or “pointing at” accenting gesture it seems to drag the method of incantation. As if Jelle’s pieces grew out like mushrooms in the rain overnight, breezy weak materials that behold the “accidental” to become the proposition for the new. The carved trait of Jelle’s pieces suggests the backstage presence of big scissors that operate as a conductor’s baton, reversing the meaning of the suggested functionality by association.

The present force of navigation and equation appears as a strategic peculiarity of alignment betwixt the calculated stance of the viewer and the varying compositions of the over-layering view combinations diced out by means of side-view and in-depth of the Zorgraum’s scope. Another rhyming code takes activation within highlighting the choices of personally brought in colours and replicas of the viewers, cooperating the underlined materiality of the paintings’ playful parallelism.

A non-pops attempt of bringing the transmission of chaos and melancholy that pickpockets any stagnant expectations. “U.F.O.” by Jelle is perhaps one of the second-guessed ways the two artists got here from the bouncy trickstery domain.
